These ski legs still work pretty well as bike legs…

IMG_0003_editThis Ride was a tough one, but I really like cutting over to Simsbury and back, wish you could have come with me 🙂  I didn’t get any pictures from during the ride, but made sure to get one afterwards.. betcha can’t guess who was on the other side of the camera.

I got to try out my new biking jacket though, which was great.  I even had to unzip up the big hills (~3,000′!) to cool down though.  I also got to use the toe covers finally (almost didn’t since you hid them so well), which also worked out very well.  The full covers may have been a little much for the ride today, so these were great as well.  Thank you 🙂

Hope you had a good ride today also!  Its hard to tell in the picture above, but it had just started raining as I got home.  TTL, because I definitely didn’t have the energy to go any faster!

Go UNION!!

Ride Deets – “Hogsback Loop from Home”

  • 1,925 ft
  • 1 hour, 35 mins
  • 13.04 mph average

Thanks for coming down this weekend, and going on this ride with me 🙂  I’m really looking forward to a lot more later this year, plus the charity rides we’re planning to do!!  If it’s cold next time we ride, I’ll give you the big shoe covers and use the toe covers for myself so hopefully your feet don’t freeze!

Also, I’m excited to see how many miles we ride in total this year, now that we have a reference point.

#kindalost

Drawing1-ModelI didn’t get any pictures of the moose piles along the hike from Hartland Pond to the Hogsback Reservoir lookout, but got a few of the nice view from the lookout!  Too bad we didn’t have any encounters with a moose (as long it was gentle), that would have been really exciting!  It was surprising to see how many tracks there were in that area, though.IMG_0040

Snowshoe route 030214For this hike, I wouldn’t say we were actually #kindalost but definitely off track a bit in the beginning.  I guess the last time I tried getting to the pipeline from home I just got lucky.  It ended up being nice though, and I’m happy that we got out and did something, after me being so lazy for 90% of my birthday.  Thanks for just hanging out with me though 🙂

Ok, until next time!  He says as he ventures off towards the horizon across the frozen, snow covered body of water.  Just kidding, he only walked ~100′ out onto the pond for a photo, then returned to the same shore he embarked from.IMG_0047
