Red Light, Green Light

Exciting news, my front wheel does both now!

With the centerlock to 6-bolt adapter, I was successful in fitting the rotor from my old wheel to the new one (with the dynamo). The only downside I can think of is that if I want to be able to remove the rotor on my own during the trip, I would need to carry an extra tool. This is a much nicer solution than cutting the tab off the brake pad(s) though, in my opinion.

And the dynamo works 🙂 I haven’t tried charging anything with it yet, but the green light on “the plug” illuminates when I spin the wheel so it is definitely creating electricity. In the first picture you can see the wire from “the plug” running down along the fork (it’s wrapped around a few times to take up the extra length) and into the connector on the dynamo hub (supernova infinity s). I’d say the hardest part of installing this setup (aside from truing the wheel I built for the hub, which I had help with), was removing the old star-fangled nut in the head tube, to install the plug and then a new, slightly modified star-fangled nut.
