We awoke at 11pm with the goal of riding between midnight and 10am, while the temperature was below 90F. This might have been possible, had we not gone down into the casino for breakfast and iced coffees at IHOP. Afterwards, we returned to the room and watched The Late Show while packing up.

Going Californie Way (79)
With a late night behind us and only a 40 mile ride ahead, we slept in a little bit this morning. After coffee in the room and then breakfast and snacks from a 24-hour grocery store, we were on our way out of town.
We stumbled upon a bike path that was fun while it lasted, and then we were back on Las Vegas Blvd. That road ended in Jean, and the only option was I-15 afterwards.
Sin City (76)
It was warm already as we left town at 2:15AM, so we got our sweat on while climbing towards Valley of Fire State Park.
Nocturnal (75)
Our alarm buzzed at midnight after a surprisingly good off-hours sleep. We had breakfast and coffee while packing and watching The Late Late Show in the room and set off at 1:30AM. We were energized to ride and had some cool air (~70F), which made a world of difference.
Almost to Zion (73)
Just before sunrise, it was 40F in Bryce Canyon City, so we bundled up and were on our way. Coincidentally, we met up with Lisa and Jenny near the campsite exit. To our delight, we rode the first 15 miles with them, until we deviated from the route once again, this time to go to Zion National Park.
