Third Day, Third State (3)

We made it to Vermont!

We woke to a rain shower and decided to be patient, settling for another late start, and hoping it would stop.  Fortunately, that decision paid off and we had ourselves another bluebird day.  🙂

We climbed out of Lincoln this morning after having coffee and food at Half Baked and Fully Brewed.

The day was a net descent, but the shorter, steeper climb (compared to Kancamagus) still tested our already-tired legs.

The view of the mountains and pond at the top made it all worth it, though!

Later in the day, we narrowly evaded a thunderstorm by taking shelter in a little library in Piermont, NH. We would like to send a big thank you to the librarian, who was very kind and accomodating, allowing us to use their wifi, fill our water bottles, and stink up the place with our sweaty, smelly bodies. All of the locals who came into the library were also very genial and gregarious.

At this point in our ride we have heard from everyone and their mother, that we are going the wrong way. However, we have already met a few people who have completed similar trips, from east to west, so we are holding out hope for a successful journey!

In addition to the bugs we eat as we ride, we have consumed rice with freeze-dried corn and canned chicken for dinner for the past two nights, flavored with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. We even had a freeze dried ice cream sandwich tonight!

A big thanks to all of you wonderful folks for following, supporting, and encouraging us along our ride so far!

Nice to see your making great progress, in this part of the country if your not going downhill then your going uphill. Great for legs of steel and when you get to the flats you will probably fly like rocky and bullwinkle. The weather has changed for the better and now will have temps. in the 70’s for the next few days love mom
