I’m not sure where the name came from, but these are soft molasses cookies. This recipe is one my mom makes frequently in the winter.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups Crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves

Instructions:

  1. Cream the Crisco, sugar, eggs, and molasses together
  2. Mix in the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and ground cloves
  3. Roll into balls and dip in sugar.
  4. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes on a greased pan, until the cookies fall and start to crinkle
